Pros
If you have little or no IT knowledge, they will have a place for you. The salary will be commensurate with minimal work experience, but that's how they roll. There will be lots of OJT, and OT, just in a frantic work environ. Benefits are OK, medical coverage is adequate, but quite pricy for the employee – the company’s contribution is minimal for anyone other than mgmt. Likewise, the employee savings plan will receive a dismal employer contribution. Sorry, this IS the positive aspects about a company that treats the actual working employees like so much chattel! If you can become a ‘pet’ of a manager, you may have some future with the company.
Cons
Nepotism and cronyism is rampant. Whatever position you take, you will need to really like it, cuz you're staying in it for a LONG time. Only the “favored ones” receive any attention towards advancement of position or betterment of technical ability. Hard work and dedication to customer service means very little to mgmt. They don’t truly care about actual customer satisfaction, just so long as customers get those “warm and fuzzy feelings”; it doesn’t matter if the ‘solution’ to the problem is a Quick-Fix and isn’t a long-range answer. The salespeople, and mgmt, sell pipe dreams and it’s up to all the worker bees to make it happen!
