Pros

Meaningful industry to work for. There's a mission to prove our stuff is effective (efficacy measures), and that's a really good thing to be concerned about. Long history of success. They have been an industry leader for a long time. The company understands that textbooks are on a decline and really actively trying to be a software company instead. They have won awards for diversity and for being a good place for working mothers. The flexible work policies are really great. The star ratings lump culture and values into one category. I would split them in this case. I think there are very good values at Pearson while the culture is a problem right now.

Cons

Because textbooks are on the decline, there is a persistent sense of doom that hangs over the place. They had layoffs a while ago and more are coming. A lot of really good people have left already, and it seems like every month more are leaving. There's a lot of stress put on people by management. There are frequently conflicting demands put on us by different management hierarchies. We get told decisions are final, but then someone protests and reopens the argument, and then the decision changes again. Morale has been very low for a long time.

Pros

Decent pay. Not much else.

Cons

No lunch break, no breaks in general, can’t go to the bathroom for hours on end, the managers’ daughter gets special treatment because her mother is in charge. Constant criticism and unfair treatment.
