Learning Designer role is for driven, thick-skinned people - Learning Designer Pearson Employee Review

Pros

The Learning Designer role (and the Efficacy & Learning team in which it sits) is incredibly close-knit and mission-driven. Salary is reasonable and promotions every 2 years keep it competitive. Working in products at Pearson is nice because you know for the most part that it will reach people and actually have an impact.

Cons

Learning Designers are somewhat "outside" the scope of a typical product team, so it can be a struggle to get clarity on what to work on, prioritize work, or see your work have an impact in the product. For a company that praises learning and claims it's focused on efficacy, it usually takes a backseat to other priorities. Organizational structure is large and unwieldy, so it is often really difficult to identify a single decision maker or hold people accountable.

Pros

Working on EdTech and helping improve educational outcome. Caring coworkers, altruistic & mission driven, etc.

Cons

Pay is reasonable for working in the education field but is slightly lower than working in other parts of tech.

Pros

Decent pay. Not much else.

Cons

No lunch break, no breaks in general, can’t go to the bathroom for hours on end, the managers’ daughter gets special treatment because her mother is in charge. Constant criticism and unfair treatment.
