Pros

Supporting science missions at remote sites with spaceflight hardware is a real kick. Scientists and their students are universally great. Many skilled and personable technicians and engineers, with a few glaring exceptions.

Cons

NSROC has a "fail upward" culture, all of management is incompetent and doesn't care about anyone or anything other than their buddies. Most of the contemporary hardware here dates back to the late '70s and was surpassed in sophistication, capability, and efficiency by an economy car in the mid '90s. I was told by a senior engineer that you can only get fired for time card fraud or looking at inappropriate images of children at work, and that apparently the latter individual received a warning before being fired. This place is a jobs program with a toxic work culture. If someone has worked here more than five years, isn't a local native, and doesn't have children in a nearby school district, there is a 99% chance they are complacent, incompetent, and/or an alcoholic. Do not move to the Eastern Shore for NSROC. And God help you if you aren't a straight white man here. If you don't have a God, you better find one soon or get back across that bridge.

Pros

Peraton is a great company to work for. My boss built a huge Datacenter from the ground up. He is very helpful to everyone in our team.

Cons

Onboarding is slow, it takes longer than I expected.
