Supportive coworkers who genuinely care about animals and teamwork Strong training for new associates, especially in pet care and customer service Opportunities to learn across different departments (grooming, cashiering, stocking, pet care) Steady company culture and clear expectations Discount on pet supplies Management varies by store, but when it’s good, it’s very supportive

Cons

Inflexible scheduling, especially during peak seasons Hours can be slow, especially outside holidays or if the store is overstaffed Limited opportunities for advancement unless you push very hard Pay increases are modest and don’t always reflect experience or workload High turnover can put extra pressure on long-term staff Workload can be inconsistent—some days overwhelming, other days underutilized Roles are very defined and lack nuance as they once did, which limits learning opportunities to advance in the store.

Pros

If you have experience they can pay very well considering the size of the company. Depending on which store you are in, they can be pretty good at fostering a good environment and culture.

Cons

Company is primarily focused on sales and not customer experience. So expect a lot of metrics and hounding customers. Company is trying to be technologically forward but continues to neglect to invest in the technology. So there’s updates every week crashes every week with no communication around it.
