Pros

Its fun to go to work everyday. Most of the people shopping with or for their pets are eager to talk about them, so if you are the type of person who likes to engage in customer service this is the place for you. The company really cares about the health and well being of all pets we sell and and any pet we provide service to. They are also very good about allowing their managers to have personal lives. Managers normally work a 45 hour work week, and other than a few weeks around Christmas are not required or pressured to work more.

Cons

Some of the early shifts start pretty early - 4:00 in our store. The training program for managers could use some improvement. Training lasts 2 weeks and does covers policies and procedures and how to analyze reports, but does not really help to learn to complete the basic tasks required on a daily basis.

Pros

15% off whole store 50% proprietary brands Petting animals Friendly customers Almost never declines requested days off

Cons

Must have min one weekend day available No room for growth very hard to become full time Must make requests a month in advance even thought the schedule come out Thurs/fri for the following week, shifts can be unpredictable Coworkers with seniority have “better” shifts Scrubbing tanks may have you armpit deep They say everyone is equal and gets paid the same but not everyone put in the same effort, ex: some people don’t do pet care at all or never close or never work truck days
