Pros

Great customer service job. Got to see lots of animals. Really had the opportunity to help people and educate them on their new pets. When you have a manager that cares about the animals and employees its amazing

Cons

New corporate makes it about the money and less about the animal will find yourself in positions where you have to make compromising decisions for the animals management is a hit or miss. They started firing those who cared about the animals or knew pet care and started hiring from outside sources (ie. had a manager from red lobster, never owned an animal in their life and didn't care about them) corporate is finding reasons to get rid of the teams that do care about the animals and employees they don't care about policy and will not back up you or your management (customer is always right is the motto here) very little room to grow (took 4 years to grow and their was officially no title and pay was increased to what my male coworkers in my old position had) WILL PAY FEMALES LESS PAY MUST ASK FOR IT UPFRONT don't hire full time/rarely offer full time, only in management positions you'll make more quitting and being rehired then staying in the company

Pros

The company pushes for more and more from the bottom level employees without better pay. I worked there before the restructuring and; not much can make me cry, but working here sure did, even back then. I can’t imagine how anxiety inducing it must be to work there now. Animal welfare is a complete non-concern. The only thing that’s pushed is sell, sell, sell. It’s borderline dystopian. Bad management seems to be a common issue, not only from my experience, but many others’ as well. I worked until I was an exhausted sweaty mess to make sure everything in pet care or, when I groomed, the salon, was cleaned to perfection as expected of me (and I reiterate: “me,” because these standards were not expected of my co-workers, just me) and overall felt very unseen. The only times I did feel “seen,” was when mistakes were made. Work was treated like boot camp. A co-worker that was subtley targeting/bullying me, and even started rumors accusing me of racist remarks(!!!), was promoted and anything I reported was downplayed because they were friends with the assistant manager. Working here was an overall traumatizing experience.

Cons

Employees are expected to be work-robots
