Pros

A couple years ago I would have had a lot of "pros" to list here, now i can think of only a handful of things i actually still enjoy. Those things being the pets that come in seeing them happy and the pet parents glad that we were there to help find what they needed. After the recent buyout a lot of changes have come down the pipeline to "cut costs". These changes are doing nothing but hurting the customer and the associates that have worked hard for the very company that now condemns them. Pretty soon I will start comparing my company, my petsmart, the place I used to love, to walmart.

Cons

So as i said, a lot of changes have taken place. some positions have been cut from store management, mine was one of them. I am just a cashier now because that was my only option. take a cashier position or lose my job and let my family starve. The company used to have some issues like with Rainbow exotics, which is to say the way that they treated the animals that petsmart sold to customers as pets. Now the biggest issue is the company is starting to take on the this culture that its ok for us to be understaffed and for the customer to go without help. Although they will tell you that the customer comes first, its obvious when you enter my store and i have one petcare associate and one cashier and only me to cover the entire customer base at our peak sales time. They give impossible standards for you to meet. They expect more work for less money. Some of those things happened before the change, now things are even worse. my store is considered a tier 3 store. so our hours got cut. we now have less stocking hours so its on people like me who (now as a cashier) has to somehow manage the register stock and ask customers if they need assistance, and dont tell the managers that you cant do this, because guess what its retail and your replaceable.

Pros

The staff care a lot and try their hardest but it leads to burn out and being taken advantage of by a company the does not care about YOU.

Cons

Poor management. No work life balance. Bad scheduling. Bad pay. No communication. Leads expected to work more than 10 hours a day during high volume periods, Be responsible for too many things. You run around like a chicken with it's head chopped off the whole time you're at work. Staff are snippy, and rude. A few are okay. Company has you working bare bones, and does not care. Pet parent's are weird, and I don't think have realistic expectations that the boarding facility is more like dropping your dog off at a dog shelter for a week while you go on vacation than a "fun time" for your dog. Dogs get fed, watered, pottied. If that is all you care about, then use the PetHotel. If you want your dog to have fun, and be out of a stressful environment (few dogs do well with constant barking and noise all day, plus being stuck in a cement run, thrown in with a bunch of other dogs who have never been properly socialized) just do in home boarding. I would never board my dog at a place like this.
