Pros
I genuinely cannot think of one.
Cons
Working at this pet store was one of the most disappointing job experiences I’ve had. From the start, the environment was extremely unprofessional and poorly managed. Basic cleanliness and sanitation were clearly not a priority. Areas that should have been routinely cleaned were neglected, including employee spaces and restrooms. The breakroom was frequently dirty, with old food left out and surfaces that appeared to go long periods without being cleaned. For a workplace that handles pet food, supplies, and live animals, this level of neglect is concerning. It created an uncomfortable and unsanitary environment for both employees and customers. Training and management support were also lacking. New employees were expected to learn on the fly with minimal guidance, while managers often seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. When concerns about cleanliness and workplace conditions were brought up, they didn’t seem to be taken seriously. I was excited to work in a field involving animal care, but the reality of the workplace did not reflect the level of responsibility that comes with it. A pet store should prioritize cleanliness, organization, and proper support for staff to ensure the health and safety of animals, employees, and customers. Unfortunately, this location fell far short of those expectations.
