Pros

The good thing is the PTO , this is pretty decent. We have a nice crew, for the most of it. You always have a few strange and not so nice ppl work there. But for the most of the time we all get along. I work for Petco for more then 12 years.

Cons

In the last few years it is getting pretty stressfull working there. Petco upper management expect to run on almost NO payroll. Running the store with 3 ppl on truck day is no fun. There is more and more to do on so little time. I feel upper management feels slavery is back in style. Bring out the whip. They expect to sell dog training classes, EA sells at least 5 a week. Ask for donations. Also you should play stupid card games. Hey, there are no hours for that. We all should clone us over there. We wish we can give better customer service, but with no payroll and all that cleaning and other useless activities it os not always possible. Part time ppl get cut to the minimum. Full time ppl get cut too, but have to do the work for 3 ppl.

Pros

- Wonderful people under the Sr. Director level - Dogs in the office - Brand name carries weight on your resume

Cons

- Sr. Directors and above are largely nepotism hires rather than merit-based promotions - Leadership team is toxic and disrespectful, and that tone trickles down to other senior leaders - Gender favoritism shows up repeatedly, with women being asked to pick up the work of men without additional pay. Or men being promoted over women due to favoritism and not merit. - Nearly every employee I worked with was disengaged and functioning out of fear of layoffs rather than job satisfaction (layoffs happen multiple times a year) - The company's declining position also makes it harder to land your next role, since a recent Petco title now reads as coming from a struggling brand
