Pros
In my six years I learned a lot about animals through various managers, customers, & even from those from corporate. Learning the ins & outs of management. I started as a cashier & worked my way to the top.
Cons
Where do I begin? The first few years were alright. Then came the push on services like dog training & grooming. I totally understand why, but at the end of the day this is a retail corporation. No pay roll to support store needs let alone the unrealistic expectations of corporate. I can't even begin to tell you how many things they have rolled out out for customer engagements that we no longer do. Waste of time/money. Trying to get things done for the store like work orders & maintenance can be a joke. HR/IT issues? Good luck understanding who you are talking to. All outsourced to somewhere that isn't in America. Petty district managers. I had 7 while I worked with the company. 4 different ones all with in one fiscal year. One who wouldn't call me back during a pet service emergency because she was mad at my SL for how a recent walk went with our VPRO...I could go on & on. Funny enough that was after the company was bought by different investors. New CEO (NO LONGER JIM MYERS) who requires all leaders to do a lengthy email report out to DLs. Once again, no payroll to support that time spent nor the conference call that takes place every Monday afternoon.
