Pros
You could make good friendships. Maybe, most likely though you'll be thrown under the bus by everyone because that's the only way to survive.
Cons
They make it their business to essentially terrorize their employees. They know it's a hard job market so they use that to hold people hostage. They make changes and tell you if you don't like it leave. They make said changes last minute. Bully you into positions you weren't hire for and aren't qualified for or capable of. Then immediately start picking you apart. The is no learning curve. They want to micro manage you, yet the managers in charge of the micro managing are in 8 hour meetings all day everyday. On the off chance they're at their desks between meetings they don't have to deal with you because they have their own work to do. They physically scream at you in a room full of people. They play favorites and keep people who don't belong there and let good people go. If they don't like you because you put them in a position to do THEIR JOB they make it their personal mission to be so insufferable you either get written up so many petty times you're fired, or you're forced to quit. Also they allow managers to harass people, they think it's comical when they change your schedule the day before it takes effect and you have to scramble to find a baby sitter or change plans you could have had for months. They have no respect for anyone's life outside work unless it pertains to them. Then they come and go as they please. They hire and promote managers based on their willingness to put up with nonsense. There's no consistent managing style and you're constantly confused on the right thing to do. For all this they pay you peanuts considering the fact that they'll have you doing the work of 3 people. If you go to the bathroom they consider you wandering. So much so they'll yell at you across the room " where are you going", which puts you in a position to say in a room full of people you need to use the bathroom. They make promises they don't keep. I swear this is the most traumatic job you will ever have. They stress people out to the point everyone wants to throttle each other on a daily basis. It's so unhealthy for the human condition. Unless you're in the union things are a little better but the players are the same and they find their little ways if it behooves them. I implore anyone considering a job at Petro/ Atlas glen mor/ Star gas partners to run far far away.
