Pros
I was very fortunate, early on, to have sales experience before joining Phenomenex. Of all of the sales jobs I have worked, Phenomenex is the best... we give the best opportunities to those who are ready to be successful, and don't mind rolling up their sleeves a bit. If I were to give any recommendations to people thinking about working at Phenomenex, I would say find a job selling cars first. Advertising sales is another great place to pick up some great sales experience. After you have some sales experience under you belt, then apply to Phenomenex... you will find that we offer excellent opportunities to sales people who have a bachelor's degree or better in the physical sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, etc). There is no glass ceiling at Phenomenex... the better you are, the more successful you'll be.
Cons
We recruit a lot of people directly from college...I think it would be better if we hired people after they have picked up some sales experience.
