Pros

Free medical and a paycheck Every week

Cons

Employees are punished for using sick time.. each day out is an occurrence and we are given 10 days a year but if we use them we lose 3 the next year.. PGW sets employees up to fail. A doctors note is required every time you are out. Sometimes you wake up not feeling good and not every illness requires a doctors appt. PGW doesn’t understand that some doctors charge a fee for notes without appointments. Sick check has to stop also.. this is such an invasion of privacy to have PGW show up at your door when you are sick. Too many old heads as Union reps. They bargain for this but it benefits them more than the membership. They aren’t affected by only have 7 sick days.. all of them have been at the job 30+ years and have time banked up . Why would they bargain for the whole team of union members. One year probation is insane. Who puts their new employees on probation for 1 year with no time off or sick days.. no exceptions? How many people with children never have an emergency in a year? People get fired for taking off in emergencies and it’s just not right. There really is no work life balance . I don’t think management or union reps realize the stress that employees have just trying to keep their job .

Pros

Easy work guaranteed 40 hours a week great benefits no lay offs pension 457 or 401k paid sick days holidays and vacation days

Cons

You get penalized for using sick days to easy to lose progressions in the summer time the higher up have less work so they micromanage everything you do new rules are constantly being added it’s not a real union the union works for Pgw so it’s a conflict of interest when it comes time for them to defend you the company always puts the blame on you if they can never find a conclusive answer to a problem
