Pros
Large facility. Care practices are completely covered with policies and procedures which rely on evidence-based practices in my area.
Cons
FYI, I’m currently employed here, with no disciplinary actions against me. I’m not in any kind of trouble, but I’m tired of the way things are. Every time they roll out another “Better way with Phoebe…” YouTube video, we all flinch because it’s yet another jellyfish sting. They are a monopoly for an hour in all directions, so they are the only choice for local healthcare and healthcare employment. They are so management top-heavy so those working the clinical billable hours are working very hard to be sure those salaries are paid. If a unit’s man hours are, say 5.3, you can bet that if one employee coming in puts a unit at 5.35, you can bet that this employee will be home on call (at $2/hr) and the rest will be working at 4.9 man hours. If you work here, you will work chronically understaffed, you will have mandatory overtime, you will work holidays on straight time, your insurance will suck even though the premiums are high, that you won’t receive raises for several years in a row and that there will be at least 7 levels of management above you before the CEO.
