Pros

Sleepy little town, people know each other. Some very good people to work and live with.

Cons

Partisan pressures by elected officials play a role in whether you can keep your job or not. If you know how to say "yes" to iffy requests you may survive for a while. After the county manager was sent to prison a few years ago they tried to clean up and they did. Now they are going back to where they where before.

Pros

It was exciting to see such a smooth onboarding process for employees. For a rural county I believe they are doing what they can to their best efforts. The County is technologically advanced. The culture is great, I was welcomed into a new transition period and was able to accumulate quickly and provide assistance for the department as needed.

Cons

Turnover is high and frequent. Which means picking up the slack to help the department.
