Pros

Small office feel, within a large company. Sector coverage teams are relatively small and don’t follow traditional IB hierarchy providing lots of opportunities for growth. Groups work together cohesively (from my experience) and share a common goal, creating a small entrepreneurial type environment. Pay structure is very fair and you will be rewarded for quality work and output. **This is based on my experience within my own group and may change from group to group

Cons

Due to small groups, hours can be quite long. However, consistent deal flow is also a positive. As the company/ my group operates with an entrepreneurial approach, the communication and collaboration between other groups within the company is sometimes not great. However, each group has specialized focuses so sometimes collaboration is not very helpful.

Pros

It's nearly impossible to get fired. After many years, the IT department has hired a diverse team. Coworkers were intelligent and ethical.

Cons

Unusual that, until after Covid, the IT department was about 95% Caucasian, but now the diversity seems to be due to the ability to lower salaries, and worsen work/life balance. Management will only promote yes-people, or hire from the outside. It's akin to working in IT in 1990s, there is little process or structure. Laptops weren't given to IT until after Covid (yes you read that right), and when they were handed out, they were the used laptops from revenue generating departments that had been upgraded. It was a very chaotic environment.
