Pros
The staff at the Director and Manager levels in ticket sales were fantastic. My department worked as a team and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. Flexibility with your schedule to accommodate game day shifts. There was opportunity for promotion and movement prior to the last couple of years. Commission and employee perks were good until 2016. Fun product to sell, great venue to work every day.
Cons
As a salesperson you have no ability to control the product on the field yet the team president doesn’t understand why sales are down and has unrealistic expectations. Hourly wage isn’t enough to live on. Goals are unachievable so you barely make commission. Sales staff that has been there for 20 years gets away with stealing sales from others and is never reprimanded so they continue to do it. HR advised us we could lose our jobs if we worked off the clock, but due to dwindling staff, we had more game day shifts to pick up and had to cut back our daytime hours so we wouldn’t go into overtime. It’s more difficult to hit your goals if you have to cut back hours at your desk during the day. Most people work in this industry because they love the grind and don’t want to be restricted with hours. Departments have no budget for outings or anything to show employee appreciation. We had an annual bowling outing that was discontinued.
