-You really get to help those in need -You learn a great deal about the health/medical field, insurance, sexual health etc -Staff retreat 1 x year -(generally) passionate co-workers committed to cause who are inspiring
Cons
-PP cut our wages when I worked there from an already modest wage to a meager one upon those of us not comfortable with performing medical tasks. (despite being hired as a non-medical HCA) -Perhaps it was just the center I was in, but our manager was unqualified for her position. She was very close friends w/ the regional manager who is her boss and consequently, this woman got away with a lot. She rarely held the mandatory monthly staff meetings. She was there typically 3 days a week (despite the job requiring her there 5days a wk), showed obvious favoritism to certain employees and did not have the appropriate social skills needed for management. She did not provide support from when patients got verbally aggressive with HCA's/nurses. She literally hid in her office and waited for the angry person to leave the bldg. instead of stepping up to the plate as a leader. -Told in interview/orientation that higher education was paid for upon X amount of time with company which was a complete lie .-No security system in center despite offering abortion services in a very conservative area which did receive threats -Obviously, hgh turnover of HCA staff
