Pros

The company has incredible talent and it is an absolute pleasure to work with them. Additionally, it seems that the company is being driven more and more by data, which is the only real way to drive a company. TRANSPARENCY: Huge. I'm completely blown away. This is my fourth tech company I've worked for, all of them claiming to be transparent, and nothing compares to this. The CFO actually gives us the numbers each quarter. You really don't get much more transparent than that. We all see what's going on. The other most exciting part is that when senior level management makes mistakes they openly admit, address, and fix them. You don't get that in a lot of places. THE CULTURE: Eternal optimism, Entrepreneurship, and Truth Seeking. These are our cultural statements. These hold true 100%. Upper management encourages hack days to come up with creative solutions and holds regular town halls where people can ask questions (anonymously if you want) and they answer them. Additionally, we measure the success of everything we do now against data. That is TRUE truth seeking. The cool part is that if you make a mistake and see it in the data that's okay. They know that people make mistakes and with the culture of always looking for truth everyone inevitably finds the best way. Additionally, they hire people who see problems, but also see solutions. It makes for a very can do attitude that leads people to do incredible stuff simply because they knew they could. This is not at all the case. If anything we are MORE aligned with our cultural statements. The change is that Truth Seeking via data shines a light on EVERYTHING. That being said, all the data is available to everyone, so if you see an area where you can improve it is super easy to get the data you need and make the improvement. The managers never fault someone for making mistakes along the way, and they rejoice when people use data to better themselves and the company. I'll just be specific here. We are a growing company. Companies need money to survive. We are using data to determine how to best make money, because that's what companies do. Now I've read some of these other reviews and just don't understand the sentiment about all we care about is money. I've ONLY seen the employees come first (see unlimited PTO, comped benefits package, company tesla, free food, pool table, great managers) but yeah, we focus on being a successful company too. Specifically a financially successful company. Who wouldn't want that? THE LEADERSHIP: The VPs are awesome. I haven't met them all, but they are seriously just regular guys (I'm sure the C levels are too but I'm not in their building). They are also incredibly smart, each with outstanding success in their respective field. This leads to excellent leaders who develop you as a professional incredibly well. I've learned more from my managers here than all my other companies combined. ADVANCEMENT: Okay, this one is tricky. People sometimes think that if you work somewhere for a long time you get advanced. Maybe that was true in 1952, but in the real world people advance because they show themselves to be leaders in their field. If you rock at marketing, you will absolutely move up. If you rock at sales you will move up. Pluralsight exemplifies this. People here are talented, which means you learn rapidly, and if you work hard and focus on being the best you will move up. Absolutely. However, if you're thinking that you can get here, sit in your desk without pushing yourself and move up in a year then yeah, this place isn't for you. I love this company. You can say I drink the cool aid or whatever, and I probably do, but I can tell you that having worked in the bay and locally in tech companies, this place is the real deal. Our CEO is awesome (he lets us take out the company Tesla whenever we want. It's his Tesla. Who does that?) and he doesn't have an office. He has a desk like everyone else. That's the kind of guy I want to work for. If you love change and growth, work here. If you're not into it, no biggie, but it's probably not for you.

Cons

Growing pains. Unavoidable, but still a pain. We outgrow systems often meaning we need to bring in and learn new ones. We outgrow processes and see change there all the time. These are necessarily pains since they typically make you're life easier, but you've got to stay on your toes. Frankly if you're thinking you're going to join a startup and not experience change you're gonna have a bad time.
