Pros

There is a lot of really great people that work here. A very engaging community that is very inclusive and accepting. The hours can be very good for a certain lifestyle, but not always the best for someone who plans on being able to make concrete plans or spending time with family. Great pay if you can consistently sell projects worth $5000-$50,000.

Cons

They make you drive across the state and don’t provide gas or toll money as well as the normal wear and tear on your vehicle. The hours can be very long days. Sometimes ending the day at a potential clients home an hour away from your home at midnight and starting the next day at 9am. There also is the pay structure, which to some is great and to others not so much. There is no cap on commissions but dont expect any base salary. You only get paid for what you sell. Prices are way above market too so selling to homeowners who know a thing or two about the industry becomes very difficult when they can get a reasonably good job done for a fraction of the cost somewhere else. Oh and dont forget to play office politics, especially if you’re struggling/not producing or else they will fire you.

Pros

After 15 years with the company, the biggest positive has always been the employee-focused culture. They genuinely invest in creating a good work environment, from modern office spaces and great amenities to company events, conferences, and even trips that help build team culture. The flexibility in BT to work remotely part of the week has been a huge benefit for work-life balance, especially with a family. Compensation is competitive within the home remodeling industry, and the company offers solid benefits like 401K and private health insurance. There are also opportunities to grow and learn if you’re willing to put in the effort.

Cons

One challenge is that career growth and promotions don’t always align with seniority or long-term loyalty, which can sometimes feel discouraging after many years with the company. For employees in tech-focused roles, compensation can feel a bit below market compared to the broader tech industry, even though bonuses can help offset that in strong years. Raises without a promotion are usually modest, and while the health insurance is decent overall, coverage for some major medical needs could definitely be improved.
