Pros

- Coworkers are amazing and most of the people here really really believe in the company's values - PTO, flexible, WFH options

Cons

- Nepotism: Mormon roots, big family run company, friends & family are promoted, bonus points if you're Mormon - Misogyny: women are not promoted at an equal rate nor paid at an equal rate. There will be an excuse at every turn. In the typical Mormon culture, women don't work and stay at home to be with the kids-- you can see this trickle down to how women are treated in the workplace. They are not seen as people who need to make a decent wage, or as people who need to be promoted to larger roles. - Racism: the company doesn't pull its weight in combatting systemic racism. The funeral industry is writhing with racist views as the Jim Crow laws had segregated funeral homes into white-only and black-only. You WILL run into moral issues working here, no matter the department. I've personally had a few of these interactions myself with Funeral Home's asking for white-only recruitment images for their funeral planners, which is illegal. Discrimination is tolerated here and it shouldn't be. Precoa has every opportunity to create change in this industry and they aren't. The first week I was hired here my direct manager told me "They are just old and have conservative viewpoints and we just have to remember that". No, how about we stop making excuses for racism and do something? - Diversity: completely lacking. Diversity initiatives are not enough and are slow to work and the executives water down everything in order to not offend our partners and potentially lose money. This isn't a matter of politics but Precoa acts like it it. It's a matter of humanity and morals.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re continuously looking at ways we can learn and improve, and we understand how frustrating it can feel when progress seems slow. This year, we’ve made our diversity initiative a major priority. We routinely conduct extensive reviews of our compensation structure and continue to implement these changes to ensure that compensation is competitive and equitable across the company. We also recognize the racial divide that exists in funeral service, which goes back hundreds of years. Black-owned funeral homes have long been an important source of profitability and economic stability in Black communities, and they’ve also played a key role in sustaining unique Black funeral traditions. We care deeply about our employees and the experience they have at Precoa. And we believe opening up more dialogue about the many issues you address would be an incredible opportunity to gain insight and clarification. If you’d be willing to help, company president Michael Hornibrook would welcome a conversation to learn more about your thoughts and insights. Please reach out to feedback@precoa.com if you’re interested and we will help connect you two.
