Pros
Decent benefits, some dedicated staff
Cons
Management hires good people, but doesn't listen to them or provide resources for them to do the job they were hired to do. Senior management is the middle-age white man club with a couple of rare exceptions. The place is very old-school insurance, and it seems like it is stuck in the past. It gives lip service to things like "customer experience" but it looks at customer experience through a very operational lens. The actuarial and finance departments along with sales wield all of the power. There is a poor understanding of communications both internal and External. Top down communications don't trickle far beyond senior management, leaving the rank and file to do their best on little direction. Then employees are blamed when things don't go as senior management would like. Lots of ego at the top. Ick. Management does not support employees, instead there is a lot of posturing and jockeying for power among the senior executive set. Ick. If you just want a job and to work from 8 to 5 it's great. If you actually have any kind of career ambition or appreciate being recognized for your contributions you should look elsewhere.
