Pros

Pay is great compared to neighboring hospital systems. Cost of health insurance is manageable.

Cons

There is no career ladder for sonographers, so someone with one registry could be paid the same as someone with four registries. Currently, there are no performance based raises. Upper management cares a LOT about productivity and how many patients you can churn out in a shift; whether or not you feel that pressure depends on who your direct supervisor/ manager is. Luckily, my manager is incredible, but we have still had multiple employee injuries due to high patient workloads.

Pros

Magnet status, Diverse patient population allows for greater experience. Trauma 1, Comprehensive Stroke Center, teaching hospital, high investment in EPIC utilization

Cons

Level of education of many nurses there is low, no requirement for minimum BSN, staff is young, turns over, a lot. Frustrating at times. Management not the best communicators, no constructive feedback, perhaps spread to thinly to be effective.
