Pros
High level of autonomy High level of travel within Columbia to various Palmetto Health campuses Medium to high level of exposure to senior leaders & various departments, but please note that this is a "luck of the draw" scenario. It's possible for one to be assigned to only a few or only similar departments Good investment and retirement options Decent career advancement opportunities within the organization as a whole, but not within the department
Cons
Organizational Culture not consistent with the employee Standards of Behavior. Incoherent organizational & departmental structure High department turnover rate Top-Heavy Management: -Currently, there are 4 managers overseeing only 3 employees. Poor organizational & departmental communication: -Many employees do not answer phone calls, return voicemails, or answer emails in a timely fashion, if at all. Limited or No Access to System Applications required to support leaders -Access to the applications needed to support one's assigned departments is very limited or not provided at all in some cases. Poor Mid-Level Management: -Managers provide little to zero direction/guidance for their employees, but will hold employees 100% accountable, even when employees have asked for more direction/guidance or help. Extremely high number of different IT systems: -The numerous EHRs and their supporting systems and applications do not communicate well with each other, if at all. Poor departmental outlook: -The department does not provide any essential or critical functions to the organization. It's possible the department is eliminated in the future. Health Benefits: -Appealing at first, but many providers within the network cannot accept new patients. For those who can, there is usually a two month wait.
