Money/profit over patient safety - Registered Nurse Prisma Health Employee Review

Pros

Diverse patient demographic which leads to multiple learning opportunities

Cons

Poor staff retention so constantly short staffed- probably due to dismal pay and benefits. I worked for Prisma for over 10 years. Prisma only offered merit raises to staff twice over this time frame. The needs of executives and management are put over the needs of lay staff- which includes RNs, techs, environmental services, and food services. Executives put priority over the bottom line rather than patient safety. Poor work environment and toxic culture.

Pros

Magnet status, Diverse patient population allows for greater experience. Trauma 1, Comprehensive Stroke Center, teaching hospital, high investment in EPIC utilization

Cons

Level of education of many nurses there is low, no requirement for minimum BSN, staff is young, turns over, a lot. Frustrating at times. Management not the best communicators, no constructive feedback, perhaps spread to thinly to be effective.
