Pros
99% of the people you meet are always super friendly and down to earth. I formed a close relationship and bond with basically everyone from my academy/training class. From the beginning you are encouraged to keep growing your career. They help you practice with mock interviews to prepare you to move to apply to a different position. They train very effectively. There is always someone to support you, and SRT is literally like having a little fairy to help you with almost any insurance related question a customer could have. Also the gainshare bonus is very nice, and the 401k plan matched your contribution (I'm not sure but I think I was contributing 6% and they were matching that 6%). It felt fulfilling to help small business owners with their insurance needs, which sometimes were required in order for them to even start working.
Cons
The customers were pretty much the only thing I hated about my job. Pre-pandemic we were a lot less busy ( 3-6 minutes in between calls during peak times; 8-12 minutes early mornings and early evenings; 15-30 minutes later in the evening). The pandemic caused a lot of people to become unemployed and we got a lot busier. We went from getting a few minutes in between calls to a having 20-30 people waiting on hold basically the whole day. By the time a customer got through to you, they had already been transferred a few times and had been on hold for awhile. They were usually not happy after waiting and getting them to sit through a 25-45 minute was like dealing with an impatient toddler with no filter. The customers started wearing on me and my feelings about work changed. Working from home definitely did not help because I no longer had a co-worker/friend to vent to about a rough call. My anxiety got a lot worse towards the end of my tenure.
