Pros

Really strive to apply their wonderful Mission Statement. Staff growth and and encouraged and suppored. Education if in Health Care is supported with some financial incentives. Clinical environments are always of the visually and environmentally pleasing and clinical equipment is alway topnotch and in adequate supply. Satisfaction depends so much on department management style in a system of this size. There is an annual Job Satisfaction Survey that is sent to each employee annually and is anonymous. After analysis, each manager is given their results/feedback, and I perceive that they are also given job improvement plans and expectations. Positive results should be reflected n next years survey.

Cons

For a company who's main product is the provision of Health Care Services and actually has a Health Plan branch, I found the benefit package to be rather pallid; High deductable, high copays especially for specialist and diagnostic services. Employee contribution for their monthly premium is also more then one would hope for... especially because Providence Health Plan is part of the system. Depending on your manager, you may find yourself stuck in your wage scale with increases based only on cost of living with a cap on the percentage each year of howmuch you may be given as a merit/performance raise... averages about 2-3 %... So be sure you are happy with your starting wage because unless your job position is re-evaluated for grade, you scale may stay the same for years....

Pros

(This is for Providence St Vincent Medical Center in PDX) - staffing ratios - break nurses - ONA union - coworkers on my unit are very helpful and kind (can’t speak for every unit though)

Cons

- upper management hates the nursing union - we are short on many supplies on weekend night shifts - crappy insurance - my unit’s manager is almost never there, they’re always on vacation or working remote. This makes our manager very out of touch with the unit’s needs
