Pros

Amazing coworkers. Decent training opportunities. Benefits package was okay.

Cons

Pay was extremely low for degrees required unless you were a nurse. I personally made more at my previous position which required less education. Pay raises and adjustments were not given equitably to current employees compared to packages given to entice new employees to sign on. Middle management (above line supervisors) micromanaged horrendously but were no where to be found when support was truly needed. They would then scold line staff for answering emergency calls overnight when those staff were the only ones that could be reached who had decision-making power. At least one job in my department was posted as a vacancy while the person in that PCN was on short term disability or FMLA. When they did return, the staff member was also forced to stay after the hours they were allowed to work (approved by Sedgwick) by a manager who refused to let them leave a room (physically was between them and the door).

Pros

(This is for Providence St Vincent Medical Center in PDX) - staffing ratios - break nurses - ONA union - coworkers on my unit are very helpful and kind (can’t speak for every unit though)

Cons

- upper management hates the nursing union - we are short on many supplies on weekend night shifts - crappy insurance - my unit’s manager is almost never there, they’re always on vacation or working remote. This makes our manager very out of touch with the unit’s needs
