Pros

Fantastic employer that invests in their employees and actually cares about making an impact. Paid ongoing training, paid certifications, even opportunities to take some college courses. The company has high values, so overall I've worked with wonderful coworkers from all different backgrounds and locations. The company has remote positions due to COVID, but not sure how much longer they will keep those. They paid for the equipment to work from home. Paid internet stipend, free health insurance, and lots of other paid benefits across the company, great PTO. Everyone can interact with the directors, which says a lot about the company. Great networking opportunities and you may get to work with government or different organizations. Can't say enough positive things about this company. Several coworkers look forward to clocking in for work.

Cons

Some positions are limited-term positions that largely depend how they're funded, but they offer better benefits than most permanent jobs. If you can't work weekends, some projects or positions may require weekends. I believe some positions have a fixed schedule, while others can change from time to time. It'll say in the job description.

Pros

Remote work with flexible hours as needed. Great to be a part of such mission driven work. Health insurance and retirement matching are incredible.

Cons

Experience can vary based on your program and PI/PD. There seems to be no accountability for PI/PD's and there's no way for employees to safely communicate concerns without fear of retribution or retaliation, leading to very toxic work environments where lower-level staff get the short end of the stick. Given that programs are grant-funded, PI/PD's can also cut/reduce staff's FTE and then delegate tasks to staff remaining without any salary/title change, leading to burnout, frustration and low team morale.
