Pros

Publix Produce Dept. is among the better areas to work within a store. There is very high standards of quality maintained. I was rather satisfied with my work. Great Benefits, Employee Stock Ownership Program, bonus pay on Sunday, Dental, 401K, Health, and Tuition Reimbursement Program is absolutely great. Awesome opportunity for advancement and professional growth. The manager training program is absolutely great when the position becomes opened. I was promoted to Produce Team Leader within a year. Pay is decent, but not sustainable until Asst. Management position is obtained, but this could take 4 or 5 years. Best thing about Publix is they hire from within.

Cons

I wasn't always too fond of our silly uniforms, or occasional management personnel. At times, the work is boring and redundant, because the company is so structured, that outside ideas are not always welcome. The corporate culture is pretty good, but managerial hierarchy within the chain of command could use a little more horizontal structuring.

Pros

Management is very good. Phenomenal work environment.

Cons

The hours for part-time were not fixed, so it was a challenge to juggle some schedules given at times.

Pros

Amazing 401K, free stock after one year of employment, health insurance is very good for part-time employees if only getting it for yourself, management always approves time off requests, hours are always available, will work around school schedules, tuition reimbursement program, will reimburse you for gas for work-related expenses as needed and will put you in a hotel as needed for work-related reasons that are more than 50 miles from your home.

Cons

Not every store is the same, some stores are run better than others, some managers look down upon people with disabilities, and some see people with disabilities the same as someone without disabilities, they are very big about favoritism, you have to work a lot to earn a vacation, the company does not give out sick time and full-time gets the most benefits and is next to impossible to get full-time. Also, you practically have to be a former employee with a clean record or related in some way to a current employee to get a job with the company though Kentucky Publix's don't quite function that way.
