Pros

Great coworkers. Profit sharing exists and is ok. Lower and middle management are quite good, they are very approachable and aren't afraid to work alongside the worker bees. Hours are reasonable; if you have to work weekends/nights management is helpful in scheduling it and usually are there if you need help. Sick leave and medical leave are both very good. Good opportunities for professional learning/conferences. Good collaboration with other teams. The CEO (Allan) and President (Don) are both good guys.

Cons

Career advancement is challenging. The teams in IT/IS are fairly flat so unless someone leaves it can be challenging to grow or advance. Annual pay increases are minimal at best and don't cover inflation at least post-COVID. In terms of software engineering, most of Pyrotek's tech stack is early 2000s with quite a bit of the mission-critical stuff circa 1990s. Very, very isolated pockets of less obsolete technology. The technical debt is quite significant. Change comes (if ever) very, very slowly.

Pros

For me it was closeby. 401k and health benefits. It pays medium range.

Cons

It is a VERY dirty job. Management is running the place into the ground. I was constantly wondering if the place will be in the red or black. The outlook wasn't very good from a business standpoint. I put in my 2 weeks notice and they resigned me immediately, and they shorted me on my vacation time payout. They pretend to care about you but its all a paper trail to cover their behinds. Engineering staff is a joke in a facility that requires constant coordination with engineering, management and maintenance. Turnaround is high and training is nonexistent so people don't know what to do, or how to effectively do their jobs. Health benefits exist but pretty expensive to employee. Very little chance of moving up, and company policy applies to whomever they choose.
