Pros
Good availability of testing equipment Get updated laptops periodically
Cons
Promotions are based on politics. I've seen people get promoted even though all they do is write nicely formatted docs and update Makefiles/Bash scripts, while engineers who are experts in their domains are left behind. Must be on friendly, almost familial, terms with management to get promotions. No transparency on what projects are going on, status of current projects, or how projects are doing financially. Matrixing is common and you can get ignored by both your team and the transplant team. Bridgewater location does not get any good projects. Just the stuff San Diego does not want to work on. As a result you spend most of your time there doing no work. Difficult to work on projects that you're interested in. I've been admonished just for asking for a little different work on the matrixed team.
