Pros
You get to work from home. Early access to beta software and learn new software. Great people to work with and to be with. Fact.
Cons
Like other people have mentioned, the CEO can get a bit annoying sometimes and will randomly pick people to do extra chores not related to your job description. Working at home under a virtual environment might seem like a good idea but your isolated from your team mates and its often very hard to sometimes reach out to them if they are experiencing the same heavy work load as you. Under staffed most of the time and takes time to recruit new employees. There is career progression but requires you to go “above and beyond” everyday and might not seem worth the endless effort put in. It does occasionally get you something . Very high standards and you might find you can get kicked out easily for not passing internal security tests, which are held yearly. The ratio for people leaving is very high not just in the helpdesk. We've seen people leave on there first week or month for not keeping up to standards which can be stressful if your not on top of things. This is also one of the causes most employees will stay late into the night to finish up work because work easily gets piled up the next day. Expect to work 40+ and the rest unpaid to say you love the company. There will be a time where you will work 50 hours constantly in some weeks. Its a viscous cycle that you will have to get use to. Questionmark has very dubious training procedures. Yes, you get excellent in house training with the Perception software. But anything outside of Perception such as SQL and Oracle, its in your own hands. If you do ask for training, they will throw a book at you and expect you to become the “go to person” within a few months. So self-teaching is very vital here. Pay rates for the helpdesk role is mildly average. All pay rises is based on your performance but your manager gives you three goals each year that you need to accomplish that will “help the company growth” and they cant be easy goals. This only applies to the helpdesk team. Compare this to the rest of the company who dont have to deal with this and prepared to get laughed at by other members of Questionmark. My advise to anyone applying for the technical support role is yes, its not all bad working for Questionmark but unfortunately, the bad easily out weights the good and I wouldn’t recommended anyone working here. If anything, this should be your last choice when picking your job.
