Pros
Remote work. Good work/life balance. Benefits are pretty decent. Several good, smart, dedicated coworkers. Exposure to modern technology and platforms that help build experiences and resumes.
Cons
Lack of alignment from senior leadership on down is apparent. Siloing had always been a problem at R1, but it got even worse with major mergers and acquisitions. They truly don't know how to manage change and ensure that each vertical is prioritizing the same objectives and working toward the same goal. Chronic lack of investment in anything resembling a data governance strategy, while claiming that data is the foundation of success. Working on the Data Platform at times felt like throwing pebbles at the moon. Meanwhile, leadership would pack up and move on to investing in the next shiny solution. Priorities were constantly shifting, and it was difficult to ever see our work make an impact. It felt like a lot of individual talent was wasted. Salary was also below market and stagnant for long-time employees. Lots of recent voluntary turnover, plus several recent rounds of RIFs.
