Started as a very exciting opportunity and ended as the worst experience of my career - Appeals R1 RCM Employee Review

Pros

my coworkers, feel proud of all I contributed, learned a lot about the business

Cons

management does not communicate or value its employees. Requests for information or suggestions for improvements meet with either no response at all (most often), degrading responses or patronizing responses. This occurring while the corporate all hands meetings are emphasizing "transparency" and "getting out of our silos". If it is not in the best interests of those in power, your ideas will not be considered or acknowledged, no matter how much you bring or how hard you work. I enjoyed all I learned and feel that I contributed a lot but left feeling like it didn't matter at all.

Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
