      Pros

      They offer remote jobs with full-time hours and standard benefits.

      Cons

      They are forcing out those with more experience (who receive higher pay) for those with less experience or are overseas (they can pay less). Experience is so important in this job. While they may cut their overhead, they will inevitably lose in the end when medical claims stop getting paid and clients start to leave.

      The voluntary separation offer was good.

      Cons

      I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.
