Pros
In my experience of over 4 years, I have seen a lot of changes. My best experience has come from the constant support I have received from my supervisor to allow me a safe space to speak my ideas and collaborative efforts every step of the way. I am constantly encouraged and empowered to make suggestions, challenge my skill sets to grow, learn, and adapt. I am also encouraged to look at what areas in my field I choose to learn in my departments wheelhouse. If I find a training that is important for my "brand" in my career, I am encouraged to follow that desire and grow. In my experience of almost 9 years in infrastructure development, it is very rare to find a company that will allow you to grow in your own interests.
I also appreciate the encouragement and acknowledgement from my leaders and senior leaders of the company. This was not always the case, yet in just the last 8 months of the company, the initiative to hear voices from the bottom-up is increasingly growing, and put to action. I am aware there are more initiatives for leaders recognizing the growing pains of such a company and lessons being learned.
The flexibility/hybrid working environment is incredible. My supervisor has always respected our home life circumstances and allows us equal opportunity to succeed and grow.
The experts in this company are always willing to teach and help fellow employees learn and grow. I have always felt comfortable to walk up/call anyone in the company and ask them about their expertise and they are willing to give me the time of day.
Our CRM systems are very useful and structured to facilitate the large capacity in which our company has grown. This is very important for a company in this capacity to hold a strong foundation for operations, collaboration and analytics. The IT/Operations/Project Controls team all work to help constantly grow and improve this.
DEIB initiatives are currently being recognized and will increasingly grow. Leadership is very engaged and supportive.
Overall, I feel confident in my career here at RailPros to be one that cares about my professional career, my personal work/life balance, and allows me to explore my interests that best serve my skill set and in turn, supports the company and clients.
Cons
With growing pains, there should be a lessons learned register. Transparency and collaborative efforts with this register could be a real humbling experience for the company to feel as a team, not a hierarchy.
