Average Defense Contractor - Systems Engineer II Raytheon Employee Review

Pros

Good pay, benefits, and work life balance. Never pressured into working more than 40 hours, very relaxed environment. If getting a security clearance is no issue for you, you’ll have good job security and can move within the defense industry pretty easily. Working at a big name defense company also looks great on a resume

Cons

Everything moves slowly and is 90% bureaucracy and process. Not a lot of exciting technical work to go around. Most engineers are placed on legacy programs to maintain 20+ year old hardware. Younger engineers that want to learn new skills and take on challenges will be bored and want to leave within a couple years. Great place to settle down later in your career and not have to do any real work

Pros

Job opportunities, flexibility, pay, etc.

Cons

Raytheon doesn't value quality. The most thankless job in the company. Most are not technical and have no idea how to do their job as quality engineers.
