Pros
- Flexibility in schedule - A comfy office job - Friendly, engaging work environment (active chat to answer questions and friendly coworkers) - Experience working with EHR/EMR systems (get to work with legacy and new EHR systems like Cerner and Epic).
Cons
- Contract work means you can get fired at any time. If a project is coming to a close, it essentially means you get put unto a new project or you get cut - No benefits (401k, Health insurance, etc) - How management deals with laying off workers (feels very inhumane and cold, you get an email and then immediately lose access). General lack of communication and transparency. Times when I had no idea when a project is ending which led to a lot of anxiety and not enough time to prepare for looking for a new job. - Times I did not feel supported or set up to succeed (because it seemed as though leads and management themselves are also learning on the spot). - “figure out as we go” type workflow
