Pros

large range of benefits, flexible hours

Cons

One of the most frustrating aspects of working at Realtor.com was the forced return to the office to perform the exact same duties. Despite the advancement of technology and the ability to work remotely, the company insisted on bringing employees back to the office without any valid reasons, causing inconvenience and unnecessary stress. Another major issue was the regular layoffs that occurred during the holiday season. It created a constant sense of insecurity and made it difficult to enjoy the festivities. The lack of loyalty towards employees was evident, and it left many of us feeling disposable and undervalued. The leadership at Realtor.com seemed out of touch with the everyday realities of the employees. Micromanagement was a prevalent issue, stifling creativity and autonomy. It was disheartening to witness how management became upset when employees couldn't perform at the same level as the top representatives, who were rumored to rely on performance-enhancing drugs like Adderall. The work environment at Realtor.com was toxic, to say the least. There was a pervasive lack of loyalty to both employees and consumers, with the sole focus being on meeting targets and generating profit. This disregard for the well-being of employees fostered a culture of stress, competition, and constant pressure. To make matters worse, I witnessed instances where managers made inappropriate advances on employees. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and creates an atmosphere of discomfort and fear. It is deeply disappointing that such behavior was tolerated and not addressed appropriately by the company. In conclusion, my experience at Realtor.com was riddled with a forced return to the office, out of touch leadership, micromanagement, questionable practices among top representatives, a toxic work environment, lack of loyalty, and inappropriate advances from managers. I cannot recommend working for this company to anyone seeking a healthy and supportive work environment.

Pros

Great pay and opportunity for advancement if you can get on the right projects that will succeed. For the most part I have the tech I need to do my job and my coworkers are really smart capable people who I learn from every day. I feel challenged in my work and that makes me feel engaged and interested in the problems I solve daily. Flexible vacation time and great benefits.

Cons

It can be incredibly chaotic at times, bordering on toxic. People are on edge and passing blame around like a hot potato. Hierarchy, power plays, and territorial politics create land mines for the unsuspecting on any given project— depending on your team or organization you’ll need to tread lightly to survive. They only hire in Austin right now, so any open roles seem to take a long time to fill, but the work still piles on.
