Pros

Culture: Open, collaborative, and inclusive culture. Excellent open-door policy and willingness from colleagues around the company in all departments to collaborate on projects. Here, I feel like my opinions are heard and matter. Work-Life Balance: Red Hat promotes a healthy work-life balance, with flexible work arrangements often available. The challenge is that there is no shortage of opportunities, so it's easy to work more than 40 hours, especially since you can work from anywhere. Opportunities for Learning and Growth: We have many resources to upskill our skills. The challenge is finding the time. The company has a quarterly day of learning, which helps tremendously.

Cons

IBM acquisition: While there are considerable benefits to shareholders for the Red Hat acquisition, it sometimes sucks for RH employees. Some departments, teams, and tools get consolidated with IBM departments, teams, and tools. And with any consolidation, that usually means a reduction in the workforce. Lack of Advancement Opportunities: Related to the IBM acquisition, because people, processes, and functions are being consolidated into IBM, there are very few advancement opportunities for associates. Naturally, there are a few folks who get promoted quickly. However, pay and career opportunities have generally remained stagnant for several years.
