Pros

Red Ventures offers decent benefits and a great schedule for the corporate staff. Opportunities to make decent money for sales staff. Great training, the training staff is exceptional.

Cons

Sales floor is a glorified sweatshop. Atmosphere is chaotic, with loud music, people shouting, constant loud hub-bub and salespeople sit jammed on top of each other. There is no job security. Metrics are measured daily, and two bad weeks puts you on "performance plan" for two weeks. If you don't meet the metric, you are fired. No matter how long you have worked there, or how much success you have had in the past, basically it's meet the standard every day or you are out the door. The calls come in by an "optimization" process where the "top performers" receive the calls from the marketing streams that are more likely to meet the criteria for a sale (more callers that pass credit). You don't have to have many bad days when you are at the bottom of the pail, then you are in big trouble. Doesn't have much to do with your sellling ability, but with your ability to maintain a position where you'll get quality calls. There are ways to manipulate the system and most top performers have discovered them. You are taught in your training to be honest and have integrity with your calls. That is not what you hear on the sales floor. You are told to push the limits on the rules as much as possible to make the sale. People you know are over the line (you can hear a lot of phone calls because everyone sits close) never seem to get into trouble. As for that top place to work in Charlotte rating? Pretty much arm twisting to get those surveys in. High turnover; they have to hire 600 to keep 200. That's why they have so many billboards and ads out looking for employees. They told the SC government they'd be hiring 1000 people over the next few years. Hiring 1000 firing 700.

Pros

Strong ownership, opportunity to manage people early, great people, nice campus. You will work on interesting problems and external companies. Great training if the space interests you.

Cons

Business future is uncertain, up or out management principles. New senior leaders somewhat disconnected from the day-to-day. Commute from Charlotte is horrible.
