One of the worst companies for therapy providers today. - Physical Therapist Assistant RehabCare Employee Review

Pros

The pro is the building I worked in was close to home and I did meet some great people there that I still keep in touch with. And I could come in what ever time I wanted as long as all the patients were seen for their time. My boss was flexible with my hours and time off needs.

Cons

Ridiculous productivity expectations. They only care about the bottom dollar and meeting the RUG levels. Whatever it takes. Will keep patients who are no longer appropriate for therapy on for extended amounts of time. The director I worked for would pressure you to keep people on therapy just to maintain a caseload. Or pick people up on therapy who didn't need it or had just come off. Would use up all the Patients Medicare part A days even when they stopped progressing just to maintain a caseload and make $. I could go on and on. They expect you to be so productive (95%) but still do all the other things that a therapist needs to do that are not billable. They also expected all Med B patients to be seen for 5 days a week and 60 minutes a day. Even when they couldn't tolerate that much or that much was appropriate for them. I know so many people who have jumped ship and will never go back to Rehabcare.

Pros

Almost everyone is friendly. This company has treated me better than any company I worked for since I became a PTA. This company seems more fair and ethical than most of the companies I worked for as a PTA. The nursing home employees get along better with the RehabCare employees than I have seen when a different rehab company was providing the rehab workers at a nursing home.

Cons

Census level changes quickly and often. Since I am PRN that means many of my shifts are cancelled or cut short. There is usually not much notice. The locations that need my help tend to be 10-22 miles from home. Occasionally I work at some farther than that. The company is disorganized. There are many error in the programs on our iPads and delays in getting certain types of pay on our paychecks. I do trust the company to try to correct these errors. We are paid only twice a month. The company is overly concerned with productivity. The employees who have benefits say they are not good.
