There’s a cost, and it’s steep. - Cyber Security Analyst ReliaQuest Employee Review

Pros

This is probably the best place to start out as an analyst. You’ll learn a ton and be exposed to a broad range of technologies and threats, so a year here is worth three at other MSSPs, at least as an analyst or threat hunter. It’s probably the best trial-by-fire education you could ask for.

Cons

Every department is run like a grind house. Employees are expected to stay later than planned on a regular basis. Product rollouts are done without vetting, meaning the analysts consistently eat the brunt of management’s planning failures, and all planning seems to be done for the sake of money at all costs. People are expendable here, and the HR side is basically just your team leads if you need help. There’s a high turnover rate for a reason. My advice, do some time here to learn, then go someplace better. You deserve better than this, and the company will bleed you dry. Doesn’t matter what department either, they’re willing to sacrifice quality for speed and run people ragged instead of just planning ahead, so make time for yourself if you go this route. The work’s always gonna be there. Your life won’t, so while it’s worth being here to learn, don’t spend yourself on it.

We definitely do move fast, but it's disappointing to hear that you have not felt supported, especially given how much we invest in our people. Pros

ReliaQuest has been a phenomenal place to work. One of the biggest things that stands out is how much the company invests in people who are willing to grow. It’s rare to find a company that promotes Business Development Representatives within 10–12 months, but here, hard work and development truly get recognized. If you’re willing to make yourself uncomfortable, apply feedback, stay adaptable, help others, and keep the right mindset, it will pay off. Management sees that effort and rewards it. It’s definitely not an easy job, but nothing great comes easy. What I’ve learned here in about a year is honestly what I believe would have taken me 3–5 years to learn somewhere else. ReliaQuest sees high-potential employees and genuinely wants to invest in them.

Cons

The role can be challenging and fast-paced, so it requires a lot of adaptability and resilience. It’s not an easy environment, but that also creates strong growth opportunities. It's also because of the industry in general!

Pros

My time at ReliaQuest has been life-changing. From the moment you join, the company invests in your growth and development, helping you evolve into a high-performing professional and leader. Since joining RQ, I’ve felt consistently challenged in the best way, while also being fully supported in everything I set out to accomplish. One of the things that makes RQ so unique is the level of support available to help us grow, both personally and professionally. We have two full-time mental performance coaches who are always there to help us navigate challenges and overcome obstacles. They’ve also built a Leadership Foundations program for emerging leaders. After six months at RQ, once you’ve completed a mindset badge and demonstrated excellence in your role, you become eligible to join the program. It’s an incredible opportunity to accelerate your career and learn the fundamentals of what it means to be a strong leader for your team. What stands out most to me, though, is the people. Everyone here is high-performing and pushes you to be the best version of yourself while striving to get 1% better every day. As a company, we truly live out our values—being accountable, helpful, adaptable, and focused—and I believe the people here embody those values every day.

Cons

While the challenge of cybersecurity is what drew me to RQ and this industry, it can also be one of the more difficult aspects at times. To be a leader in AI-driven cybersecurity, you have to constantly adapt to the evolving needs of the market. With that comes change, both within the company and in the work itself, and success requires embracing those challenges rather than resisting them. It isn’t always easy, but with the people around you and the mission you’re working toward, no change or challenge feels impossible.
