Dear Sender, Thank you for taking the time to reflect on your experience with RI. We are glad that you found your engagement with RI a fruitful opportunity to wear many hats and get diverse skills on a number of areas.. In response to your feedback related to salary and benefits, we benchmark our compensation packages to other INGOs of similar or larger size annually, and therefore offer salary and benefits that are competitive within our industry. Our health and dental coverages are considered top in the industry. We offer other attractive benefits like telecommuting, vacation, bereavement leave, and parental leave as well. We offer a good pension plan, to which we contribute whether the employee contributes or not. A small number of organizations do so. Our retention rate is also the highest it’s ever been, at 97% for our Head Office for 2016 based on calculation of voluntary separations. In terms of advancement of staff within the organization, we do need to give this more and more attention so, thank you for the advice. It is true though, that no employer can just promote everyone in order to retain them. Opportunities have to come up as a result of business needs. It is worth mentioning that currently, of the 7 officers employed at Head Office, 6 of them started as interns only a few years ago through our robust internship program. We thank you once for your feedback. Please feel free to contact us with other questions or concerns at AskHR@ri.org.

Pros

Great mission dedicated, kind and honest country team members.

Cons

Strong mission, very weak leadership. Fear replaces trust, loyalty matters more than competence, and accountability seems to stop at the executive level. Talented people leave, while difficult behavior is tolerated. Proceed with open eyes.
