Passionate employees, terrible management - Anonymous employee Relief International Employee Review

Pros

Employees and managers are very passionate about helping the people they serve, and dedicated to their work.

Cons

Management, at multiple levels, is pretty trigger-happy about firing people. Some directors talk openly in meetings about specific employees (who aren't in those meetings) they want to fire. Multiple managers tend to give employees little-to-no support. Budgeting priorities, at least at GSO (headquarters), are skewed toward funding things like travel and away from things like staffing. This leads to low staffing levels, and employees who are underpaid, and in at least some cases, pretty severely overworked.

Pros

Great mission dedicated, kind and honest country team members.

Cons

Strong mission, very weak leadership. Fear replaces trust, loyalty matters more than competence, and accountability seems to stop at the executive level. Talented people leave, while difficult behavior is tolerated. Proceed with open eyes.
