Pros

- A lot of talk during the hiring process meant to draw you in to work at Remitly: inspiring mission, mounts of growth opportunities, responsive leadership.

Cons

- No one deeply cares about the immigrants, the leadership just wants to make money. - Male aggression is welcome and appreciated. Meanwhile, females speaking up for themselves are called "aggressive" and get reprimanded for their style. - A lot of smart people who joined the company in good faith only to have their jobs change as soon as they start, and later became witnesses to the culture of nepotism, opportunities taken away when another friend of a friend gets hired over them.

Thank you for your direct feedback. Given that you're an existing team member, I'm saddened by the fact that we've not discussed this together. I'd welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your experience in my capacity as head of our People function. As a senior female leader, your comments below do not resonate with my experience, but that's obviously just my experience and I'd really like to hear yours. I assure you that we DEEPLY care about immigrants, that in our high-growth environment there are many ways to learn and grow, and that we want this to be a place where everyone's voice matters. I'm hosting employee roundtables and am available anytime via 1:1 / email if you would be willing to talk more. I promise to listen openly and work hard to continue improving. I also want to briefly respond to your comment on D&I. This is the first time we've hired a full-time dedicated D&I Director and making that investment is quite unique for a company our size. We are excited for this senior level person to partner with our passionate D&I Guild in building programs and helping drive ongoing systemic change. We want to embed equality even more deeply into our DNA now, so we can scale globally across many cultures as we continue to grow.

Pros

AI Native from first principles. Colleagues are strong and collaborative; this is the most consistent positive across teams. The mission is concrete: moving cross-border money for people supporting families. It informs prioritization and trade-offs. Scope and responsibility are available early to people who take them. Compensation and benefits are great. The company has a defined strategic direction under new CEO Sebastian Gunningham and is executing against it. Exciting time to be here.

Cons

Big org changes as the company reinvent, not for everyone.

Pros

The company started off to be great when I joined a few years back. Lots of hands on opportunities, some great people to work with. Benefits are good, people are valued and contributions are seen.

Cons

The company really started to go downhills in 2024 when there are constant leadership changes, mission changes, priorities changes and team orgs. Business Managers are starting to act like the "decision-maker" over pretty much all product and marketing decisions. We start to question if the direction we are focusing on is even right. Is it customer-centric still or is it more business-oriented. work life balance is bad stress is high people are no longer valued, heard or seen you know a company is going in a negative direction when you start to see tenured employees to leave, smart people to leave as well.
