Pros
It is a magic time in the history of ResMed. There is a small window of opportunity in any market when eyes open and awaken the masses to benefits of a given technology. A company that is ready to pounce on this opportunity can affect true change and find huge success. This is where ResMed finds itself, and not by accident but by strategic planning, engineering prowess and the intestinal fortitude to make bets on technology. ResMed has fully embraced connected care and the insights that analytics unleash from big data to make therapy for Sleep Disordered Breathing more successful for its patients. Let's talk about the positives: Senior Management is in tune with the market, seeing intelligent bets made years ago paying off on multiple fronts. Emerging HR employee success programs show promise using Strengths based leadership and coaching techniques. Employee Development is sponsored top down. Multiple opportunities to work across global teams. Company is investing in the future, today. The momentum is just starting. Everyone is empowered to have a voice, to reach, to challenge, to excel. Employee benefits are generous. Company is committed to being a respected/engaged member of the community. Lastly, it is evident in the company culture that ResMed came from humble, family oriented beginnings. There is a lot of effort put forth to make employees feel part of a family and connected to greater whole. Senior Leadership put a lot of effort into communicating, and being accessible. I find this very appealing as I know I work harder when not only connected to the value we provide to the market but to those creating the strategy and steering the ship.
Cons
The Cons of ResMed all have roots in rapid growth, however I wouldn't categorize them as anything more than startup-gone-good type challenges. There exists room to solidify and communicate our strategy around our growing portfolio. There exists room to increase targeted communications to the global offices. People are asked to wear many hats, sometimes to the detriment of core functions. Roles and scope of duties aren't always clearly defined. Multiple streams of priorities without always clear direction. Again, these are all challenges of a business that this growing.
