Where should I start?
1) The promotion channels within the company are locked to anyone EXCEPT: Interns, Global Graduates, Targeted External Hires, and of course your run of the mill country club type white male who sucks up to right people. Forget about advancing if you don't meet the criteria.
2) BAT has a long term goal of eliminating the vast majority of trade marketing. The company does not value a dedicated salesforce capable of executing the company agenda when they can outsource most duties to a third party. When leadership said "There is no planned reorganization for 2022," what they really meant was they have another downsizing coming for 2023. Look out. Oh, and Guy Meldrum thinks people in the field are "field rats." True story. No respect.
3) Field Trade Marketing employees are paid A LOT less than the competition. Altria will hire former Reynolds TM's at well over 70K per year. They give you a bigger and nicer company vehicle capable of actually carrying all of your materials (unlike the joke field is getting in the form of an escape), and Altria actually values their people. If you are reading these review to determine if Reynolds is a good choice, please consider Altria.
4) The final con I will write about is BAT's US leadership. I made mention of Guy Meldrum's contempt for trade earlier, and it is true, but that ethos runs through all of BAT's US transplants. They are arrogant, narcissistic, and greedy. To them, you are a number to be replaced, an expense to be cut, a tumor to be excised. You have no value to them, and you never will.
